Welcome to this month’s Tech4stampers Academy Blog Hop
This month’s theme is White Christmas
Hello Everyone,
I am taking part in this months Tech4stampers Academy blog hop. The theme this month is to make a White Christmas card.
My inspiration for today’s card
As a young girl we lived in a house where all around us were fields on steep hills with woods at the top. We used to have wonderful adventures building camps and dens. Another memory was we would take Mum’s old trays and have great fun having races on them sliding down the hills. Where I live in Devon we rarely get snow but I remember this particular winter, when I was around 10 years old, having great fun sledging on the trays on snow and building the snowman at the bottom of the garden.
How I made my white Christmas card
I started by scoring a piece of A4 Poppy Parade Cake card stock at 10.50 cms along the short edge. Then I cut this along the long edge at 14.85 cms. I love to score first as it’s a quick way to make two card bases at once.
Next I cut a piece of Crumb Cake cardstock at 10cms x 14.40 cms and stuck this onto my Poppy Parade base.
Next I cut a piece of Misty Moonlight cardstock 9.50cms x 13.90cms. I then inked up the Falling Snow stamp set using the Stampin’ Up! white ink pad I stamped the snow onto the Misty Moonlight cardstock. My top tip doing this is to stand up when you are pressing on the stamp so you can press down hard as it is a big stamp and you need to make sure you have managed to press all over the stamp to get the ink onto the card.
I then ripped a piece of Basic White card stock to make the ground. I love how it looks like snow has fallen as it’s not such a harsh edge as if it had been cut with scissors or a trimmer.
I stamped the house using Crumb Cake ink and the snowman’s hat using Poppy Parade ink and the snowman using Memento Black and cut out the snow man, his hat and the house. There are co-ordinating dies which I could have used to cut them out but wanted to show you how you could make this card without the dies.
Next I assembled my card. To finish I have used my Wink Of Stella to add sparkle to the snow and the snowman.
I hope I inspired you to sit and create a White Christmas themed card. I would love to see what you create so please do share.
Well that’s it from me today, it’s time for Herbie and I to go out for a walk before it gets dark. It’s actually been really sunny and warm here today, even though it’s the middle of November. He is waiting patiently hoping we might go to his favourite beach for a run in the sun and then a treat of a sausage. Herbie has a challenge every Wednesday on my Dorrie’s Designs facebook page where he asks a question and is rewarded with sausages. He does so well, last week he earnt 5 sausages, currently we have an IOU with sausages so I can spread them out.
Until next time stay safe and happy crafting
