Welcome to this month’s Tech4stampers Academy Blog Hop
This month’s theme is make Birthday Fancy Fold greeting cards
Hello Everyone,
Hi and welcome! I’m so excited to be joining in with this month’s Tech4Stampers Academy blog hop, where the theme is all about fancy fold greeting cards. Fancy Folds are one of my favourite types of cards to create.
I honestly couldn’t pick just one fancy fold to share… so I didn’t! Instead, I’ve made two completely different cards, each using a unique fancy fold design. It was way too hard to choose just one – they’re all so much fun to make and such a lovely surprise for whoever opens them on their birthday.
For both cards, I used the beautiful Arched Wishes stamp set – it’s one of my current favourites and an online exclusive with Stampin’ Up! right now. While there are coordinating dies available, I kept things simple and stuck to just the stamps for today’s designs.
I also used one of my favourite patterned papers called Bright and Beautiful – this cheerful collection is sadly about to retire, so I wanted to use it one final time. The colours and patterns are just so vibrant and happy, and I think they really help make any card feel extra special. Honestly, it’s hard not to smile when you see it!
How I got my inspiration for todays Fancy Fold greeting cards
Recently here in the UK, we’ve had a spell of beautiful weather with lots of sunshine. Herbie, Mum and I have been making the most of it with some lovely walks. One of our favourite spots is about a 10-minute drive away – a place called Goodrington Sands. There’s a beautiful sandy beach but before you get to the beach there is a gorgeous park area, with gardens full of flowers in every colour you can imagine. Nearby, there’s a Costa shop, which of course means a little treat for all of us! Herbie loves his sausages, whilst Mum and I enjoy a cup of tea.
The other day while I was queuing, I spotted some cupcakes with the most brightly coloured icing – pinks, yellows, blues, and everything in between. They were so bright and cheerful, they instantly sparked the idea for the cards I’m sharing today!
Centre Gate Fold and Flip Flap Fancy Fold Greeting Cards

How I made my Centre Gate Fold Fancy Fold greeting card
I started by cutting a piece of Fresh Freesia card stock at 14.85 cms down the long edge.
Next I cut the short edge at 20 cms. I scored both ends at 5 cms. Fold both ends in and they should meet in the middle.
I cut 2 pieces of Bubble Bath card stock at 4.50 cms x 14.4 cms and stuck these onto the flaps.
Next I chose my patterned paper, making sure if it had a directional image, I cut this at 13.9 x 4 cms and stuck this onto the flaps on top of the Bubble Bath layer.
On to a piece of Basic White card stock measuring 10.5 cms x 6.5 cms I stamped the cup cake in Black Memento ink and coloured it using my Stampin’ Blends. I chose to colour the icing using Fresh Freesia and Bubble Bath. for the Cupcake I used Pecan Pie and the candle I used Daffodil Delight and Bubble Bath.
I stuck this onto a piece of Fresh Freesia card stock measuring 11 cms x 7cms and glued this onto the left flap of the card base.
For the inside I cut a mat layer of 14.4 cms x 10cms in Basic White. I stamped Happy Birthday and three balloons which I coloured using fresh Freesia and Bubble Bath Stampin’ Blends.

Flip, Flap Fancy Fold Greeting card
I’m not sure of this Fancy Folds correct name but I have named it my Flip, Flap Fancy fold.
I started with a piece of A4 Berry Burst card stock I scored this at 10.5 cms down the short edge. I then cut it at 14.85 cms along the long edge. I like to score first when I can as it enables me to create two card bases at once.
Next I cut a matt later of Lemon Lime Twist card stock measuring 10 cms x 14.4 cms and glued this onto the card base.
I chose the patterned paper I wanted to use. Making sure if it was directional paper it was the right way up I cut this at 13.9cms x 9 cms. I cut along the 9cms edge at 3 cms and 6 cms so I had 3 strips measuring 13.9 x 3cms. I glued these on to the Lemon Lime Twist layer.
Now I cut a piece of Berry Burst measuring 8cms x 9.5cms. I scored this along the 8 edge at 1cm.
Onto a piece of Basic White cardstock measuring 6.5cms x 9cms I stamped the cup cake and coloured it using Pecan Pie for the cake base, Daffodil Delight for the icing and flame on the candle. Azure Afternoon and Lemon Lime Twist for the candle. I stuck this onto the Berry Burst piece.
I glued the 1cm strip piece on to the inside of my base card. On to a piece of Basic White card stock measuring 14.4 cms x 10 cms, I stamped two balloons and coloured them in using Daffodil Delight and Lemon Lime Twist and stamped the sentiment. I covered over where the Berry Burst 1cm flap was with my Basic White layer.

Both my Fancy Fold Greeting cards are finished and are put safely away in my box where I keep all my cards, ready for my to write in and post with Herbie when we go out on a walk sometime. I had so much fun creating my two fancy fold greeting cards today, I hope I inspired you to sit and create a birthday card using a fancy fold greeting card technique to send out some happy mail out to cheer someone up. I would love to see what you create so please do share.
My finished Birthday Fancy Fold Greeting Cards

Well that’s it from me today, it’s time for Herbie and I to call on Mum and go out for a walk. It’s so nice and sunny, the clocks have gone forward an hour and the days are getting longer. I think I will take Herbie to Goodrington Sands where the inspiration for todays card came from for a run in the park and on the beach and then maybe a treat of a sausage. Herbie has a challenge every Wednesday on my Dorrie’s Designs facebook page where he asks a question and is rewarded with sausages. He does so well, currently we have an IOU with sausages so I can spread them out. I am a mean Mummy as I don’t let him have one every time we pass one of his favourite sausage shops.
Until next time stay safe and happy crafting.
