Welcome to this month’s Tech4stampers Academy Blog Hop
This month’s theme is Sketch
Hello Everyone,
Hi and welcome! I’m so excited to be joining in with this month’s Tech4Stampers Academy blog hop, where the theme is Sketch. I have chosen to show you how I created my Llama card using the Long Time No See stamp set which is a July online exclusive from Stampin Up!.

How I got my inspiration for today’s Sketch card
Whenever Herbie and I head out for a walk, especially when we’re driving to his favourite park and beach, we always pass a particular field that’s home to a few curious llamas. It’s a bit of a treat when they’re feeling sociable; every now and then, we catch a glimpse of them peeking over the hedge, as if they’re keeping tabs on the neighbourhood.
The other day, as I was thinking about which stamp set I was going to use to create this months card, we passed by and there they were, three of the llamas right up at the hedgerow, standing there like fuzzy sentinels. There’s something quietly delightful about those unexpected little encounters, don’t you think?
What is a Card Sketch?
A card sketch is a visual guide or layout template used primarily by crafters and designers to plan the arrangement of elements on a handmade card. Think of it as a blueprint: it outlines where to place things like the sentiment, images, embellishments, and background layers without specifying exactly what those elements should be. Card sketches help spark creativity while also giving structure, making them especially handy when you’re staring down a blank cardstock with no idea where to begin. They’re often used in crafting challenges and shared within creative communities as a way to inspire different interpretations from the same basic design.
Samples of Sketches
These are the Sketches I found by Frenchie, who is a Canadian Stampin’ Up! demonstrator. For todays card I chose to do the bottom left one.

Materials I used to make my Sketch Card
- Poppy Parade card base 21 cms x 14.85 scored at 10.5
- Lemon Lime Twist 3 cms x 14.4cms you’ll need 3
- Azure Afternoon 2.5 cms x 10.5 cms
- Azure Afternoon punched shape with Modern Oval punch
- Basic White punched shape with Modern Oval punch
- Basic White 14.40 cms x 10 cms
How I made my Sketch card
- Burnish your fold on your card base.
- Glue the 3 x Lemon Lime Twist pieces on top of the card base. I found it easier to do the two outside ones first then glue the centre one down.
- Stamp the Llama heads and then stamp the striped bodies by lining the stamp up with the llama head.
- Colour in your Llama’s. I used the Brights selection of Stampin’ Write Markers to colour the body, and Crumb Cake and Petal Pink for the llamas heads
- Fussy cut the Llamas and glue these onto the Lime Lime Twist stripes.
- Glue the Azure Afternoon strip on your card.
- Cut a Basic White shape with the Modern oval punch and add your sentiment using Azure Afternoon I stamped birthday wished using the Simple Said stamp set.
- Cut an Azure Afternoon shape with the Modern Oval punch. Cut this in half long ways and stick these to the back of the Basic White punched shape with a little of the blue showing at the top and bottom.
- Using dimensionals add these to the back of the Modern Oval punch shape and add this onto the Azure Afternoon punched shape.
- Stamp your greeting in Azure Afternoon on the white mat layer.
- Glue this into the inside of your card
My finished card using a Sketch

I have now made a batch of cards using sketches which are now put safely away in my box where I keep all my cards, ready for me to write in and post with Herbie when we go out on a walk sometime. I had so much fun creating a variety of different themes greeting card today using lots of different sketches. I hope I inspired you to sit and create a card using a sketch to send out some happy mail out to cheer someone up. I would love to see what you create so please do share.
Well that’s it from me today, it’s time for Herbie and I to go out for a walk. It’s so nice and sunny. I think I will take Herbie to Goodrington Sands for a run in the park and on the beach and then maybe a treat of a sausage.
Until next time stay safe and happy crafting.
