Hello Everyone,

Happy Saturday to you all. I hope where ever you are you are having a good day. I can’t believe how fast the weeks are flying by. Here at Dorrie’s Designs, September has been a crazy busy month, we started on the 5th with me having a 60th birthday. I thought it would be fun to make 60 challenges to do with Herbie. The first was Herbie’s first ride on a boat. to read all about it scroll further down this page.

Notoriously when it comes to Christmas I am a very last minute and I have been known to be making my Christmas cards in December. This year I changed that and have been making some throughout the year. I have quite a nice stash in a box already to send. Here is a quick card I made to share at my Card and Chatter group yesterday.

The Snowy Wonder stamp set from Stampin’ Up! and gorgeous Snowy Scenes patterned paper

How I made my card using the Snowy Wonder stamp set

I started with a sheet of A4 Garden Green cardstock, which I put in the trimmer short side and scored at 10.50cms. Then I flipped it around and cut it at 14.85 cms. Scoring it first means I have two card bases ready to use, this is helpful when I am making a bunch of cards at once. This is an ideal way for making a batch of Christmas cards.

Next I cut a Pool Party cardstock layer 10 cms x 14.40 cms. I stuck this using multi purpose glue to my card base. I love multi purpose glue as you have a little wiggle room to move it if it’s not straight.

Next I chose a piece of the co-ordinating Snowy Scenes patterned paper or Designer Series paper as it’s called in Stampin’ Up!. I love how it all matches making even a complete novice at card making be able to create a card that they are proud of. I cut this at 13.90 x 9.50 cms and I stuck this on top of the pool party layer. Top tip for cutting designer series paper make sure the pattern will be the right way when stuck on your card when you cut it

Next I cut a Basic White layer 10cms x 7cms and stamped the Snowman using Memento Black ink. I added the sentiment using Garden Green ink and stamped some snowflakes using Pool Party Ink. I mounted this on a Garden Green layer 7.50 cms x 10.50 cms and stuck this to my card using dimensionals. I cut a mat layer for the inside measuring 10 cms x 14.40 cms stamped my sentiment and added to my card base using multi purpose glue. Another top tip I always stamp my sentiment before I stick the matt layer in so if there is a problem with the stamping you can flip it over.

New for September Stampin’ Up! have launched a scrapbooking range. There is a online catalogue. Here is the link.

Everything in either of the three catalogues, or the online exclusives can be order from my online shop. Herbie and I really appreciate all orders however big or small and we will send a small thank you gift. Herbie loves it when we have post as one of our challenges is to find as many different post boxes as we can in and around Torbay which means going for a walk in a new place so lots of sniffing the ground and making friends with new dogs.

Tutorial Bundle

I am part of the Tech4stampers Academy and every month we have a theme to write a tutorial for. There are 9 of us in our bundle group and all our tutorials are collated together to make a bundle. This is a great way to get nine ideas on a particular theme. I will send everyone who orders anything from me a copy of the tutorial bundle. September’s theme was men. All orders we receive in September will receive a copy of the tutorial bundle.

Herbie’s first boat ride

Earlier in September Mum and I took Herbie on his first boat trip. We bought him a life jacket which he loves so put that on him and headed down to the boat. I wasn’t sure how he would react but needn’t have worried as after a few minutes he absolutely loved snuggling into Mum and being made a fuss of by everyone on the boat. We saw dolphins jumping in the water. Look at the right side of the middle picture and you’ll see a bit of one, lots of swans and some seals but they were far to quick to photo.

Well that’s it from us today, Herbie is waiting patiently to be taken out on today’s adventure. I expect he is secretly hoping that there might be sausage or two. So I will say good bye now. If you do make today’s card we would love to see a photo so please do send us one.

Until next time stay safe and happy crafting.

Fiona and Herbie
