Welcome to this months Tech4Stampers Academy Blog Hop.

This months theme is: cards using designer series paper.

Hello Everyone,

I am taking part in this months Tech4stampers blog hop. The theme this month is to create a card using designer series paper, often shortened to DSP. It’s Stampin’ Up!’s name for patterned paper. I love designer series paper as it is made to co-ordinate with their cardstock and often to compliment a suite in the catalogue.. It can be used in a variety of ways. Today I am going to show you one way I use it.

Thoughtful Journey designer series paper

When I saw the Thoughtful Journey designer series paper in the 2024-2025 annual catalogue I fell in love with it. I love how the fronts of the sheets have a picture which can easily be made into a card. The reverse side have abstract patterns which I love too. Included in the pack of designer series paper is a list of all the colours used for the designs, making it easy to match the right coloured cardstock to make a simple card that looks stunning.

Below is a sneak peek of all the designs in the pack

How I created my card using Thoughtful Journey designer series paper

I started by choosing some of the picture side of the designer series paper. Then I chose the cardstock to contrast with the picture I had chosen. There were lots I liked and found it hard just to choose one so I have made eight cards. I haven’t added a sentiment onto all of them as I like to make a batch of cards and have some stored away safely for when I need a card n a hurry. I can then add the sentiment for the occasion I need it for.

I started by making my card base. As I am in the UK I used a piece of A4 card scored at 10.50 cms and cut at 14.90 cms. I like to score first as by scoring first you can make two card bases out of one sheet of A4 card saving time when you are making a batch of cards.. I then cut my contrasting layer 10.00 cms x 14.40 cms. Then I cut my picture 9.50 cms x 13.90 cms. I used tombow glue to stick these together. I love using Tombow glue as it gives you a little bit of wiggle time to get everything lined up. Then using the Spotlight On Nature dies I die cut the circles to fit around the Hello stamp from the Simply Said stamp set and put these on to my card using dimensionals. I cut a piece of Basic White 10.00 cms x 14.40 cms and stuck this on the inside so I could write my message inside. You could use any sentiment from any stamp sets you have and punch the sentiment out if you didn’t have a die cutting machine.

I loved how my cards turned out. I am currently taking part in a challenge to send 3 cards out in the post each week. Herbie and I popped 3 in the post box on our walk today, we hope to make the recipients smile. The other five I have put away safely away so I know where they are when I need a card in a hurry.

I hope I inspired you to sit and create something using designer series paper. I would love to see what you create so please do share.

Well that’s it from me today, it’s time to take Herbie out for his walk. It was so hot yesterday he decided to roll in a neighbours flower bed and was rather pleased with his camouflage. I’m not sure who ended up the wettest when he had his bath out of him or Zoe my neighbour but fun was had by both.

Until next time stay safe and happy crafting

Fiona and Herbie
