This month’s theme is make a Thank you Greeting Card

Hello Everyone,

I’m so excited to be joining in with this month’s Build & Bloom Stampers blog hop, where the theme this month is to create a Thank You Greeting Card.

When I’m not working at my day job, out on adventures with Herbie or happily buried in card‑making supplies, you’ll usually find me out on the water. Sailing is my other big passion, and I’m proud to be part of Dart Sailability — a volunteer‑run charity that helps anyone with a physical or mental disability enjoy sailing, boating, and social time on the beautiful River Dart.

One of my big goals this year was to sail Oscar (boat on the left) in Dittisham Regatta — and last Saturday it finally happened! I took part with my friend Steve and our volunteer Pete, and we had the best time racing against able‑bodied sailors from Dittisham Sailing Club. We came first out of the Dart Sailability boats and 11th overall, which was amazing.

There is also a fleet of seven Hansa dinghys at Dart Sailability, (like boat on right) and I love sailing and racing these too. We had a race day yesterday. I sailed with my friend Pam, had a really good start and remembered everything, everyone had taught me, I was in the lead most of the way around but then my friend Gerry managed to sneak past in the last 25 metres before the finishing line. I was still chuffed with my second place. Gerry was sailing before I was even born, he’s an amazing sailor and knows the River Dart like the back of his hand.

Sadly, our sailing season ends on 30th September until next May, but I’ve had such a brilliant year learning tips and racing tactics from our instructors and experienced sailors. I love sending out happy mail to say thank you. Stampin’ Up!’s Scenic Coast bundle has become one of my favourites to use to make my Thank You cards — the coastal imagery and subtle glimmer make it perfect for cards with a nautical feel.

How I made my two thank you Greeting Cards

I started scoring a piece of Balmy Blue cardstock at 14.85 cms down the long edge. Then I scored at 11.85. I turned it and cut it at 10.5 cms. Now I have two card bases.

I glued the 3cms bit between the 14.85 and 11.85 scorelines down.

Next I cut a piece of Secret Sea and cut a piece for each card at 2.5cms x 10 cms and 11.5 cms x 10 cms and glued these on top of the balmy blue.

I chose my patterned paper and cut one piece at 11 cms x 9.50 cms and a contrasting piece at 2cms x 9.50 cms.

I glued these on top of the Secret Sea layer.

I added a piece of Basic White 11.5 cms x 10 cms and glued this on the inside of my card.

I added a Thank You sentiment from the Greetings For All mix and match ephemera pack to the Basic White layer on the inside, and my two cards were finished, ready to be written in and put in envelopes and posted when Herbie and I went out for a walk.

Well, that’s it from me today, it’s time for me to persuade Herbie we really should go out for a walk. He’s currently hiding in his den under the settee hoping I may have forgotten about a walk as it has been stonking hot all day here. Herbie hates the heat I might have to persuade him with a trip to his favourite sausage pit stop on route.
